もうすぐ春がやってきますね。
春といえば、さくら。
さくらの季節が近づくと、友だちや家族でお花見計画が話題になりますよね。
会社やサークル等で、お花見を控えている方も多いのではないでしょうか。
日本の春の象徴でもあるさくらと花見。
海外にはないお花見文化は外国人からも人気が高いです。
ネイティブキャンプの講師たちも、日本の春と言えば、『さくら』、
『一度は見て見たい』と口を揃えて話しています。
そこで今回はお花見に関する英語フレーズをご紹介いたします。

『お花見』って英語でなんていうの？
みなさんは桜の開花を、英語でなんというかご存知ですか？
正解は、
During the onset of Cherry blossom Season, Cherries start blooming.
です。
『花見』は、”flower viewing”、
『桜の花』は、”cherry-blossom”
『（桜の）お花見』は、”cherry-blossom viewing”
と言います。
ちなみに『花』という表現は、
"flower", "bloom", "blossom"
があります。
"flower",『（一般的な）花』です。草花でも、観賞用の花、果樹の花などすべて含みます。
"bloom" は『（観賞用の）花』です。
"blossom" 『（果樹の）花』
"blossom"を"flower"に言い換えることはできますが、
逆にはできないものもあります。"blossom" は特定の花をさす時にだけ使われているからです。
"cherry blossom",
"orange blossom",
"apple blossom"
などは、"flower" には言い換えることができません。
お花見で使う表現は？

外国人に英語でお花見について説明してみよう
Hanami is a Japanese tradition of enjoying and appreciating the bloom of the cherry blossoms in early April.
(お花見とは4月初旬に桜を味わい楽しむ日本の伝統です。)
We enjoy eating and drinking with family, friends or coworkers under the fully bloomed cherry blossoms.
(満開の桜の木の下で、同僚や友達や家族とお酒を飲んだり、ご飯を食べたりして楽しみます。)
Every spring, many parks get crowded with viewers and street stalls.
(毎春、多くの公園はお花見客や屋台で賑わいます。)
Sometimes people go to parks very early morning to get a good spot for cherry blossom viewing.
(お花見のために良い場所を確保しようと、早朝から公園に行く人もいます。)
