check it outは"をチェックする、調べる"という意味です。
これに～してほしいをつけて、want to confirm/would like to check it outで

ひねくれ者はsourpuss/dog-in-the-manger/contrary personで表現出来ます。

sourpussは"ひねくれ者、不満屋"
contraryは"反対の、逆張りの"という意味を持ちます。

dog-in-the-mangerは直訳すると"桶の中の犬"ですが
自分が使用しないものを他人に貸すのを嫌がる人のことの例えです。

体裁を気にするは、be concerned about appearances/mind one's appearanceで表現出来ます。

体裁は"外見"という意味のappearanceを使います。
concerned aboutは"～の心配をする"
mindは"気をつける，心がける"という意味です。
