I would like you to stay there until 8 o'clock.
８時まではそこにいてほしい。

would like to 〜 は、丁寧なニュアンスの「〜してほしい」という意味を表すフレーズになります。また、stay は「いる」「滞在する」などの意味を表す動詞ですが、名詞としては「滞在」「駐在」などの意味を表せます。

If possible, I would like you to stay there until 8 o'clock.
（もし出来れば、８時まではそこにいてほしいです。）

I want you to be there until 8 o'clock.
８時まではそこにいてほしい。

want to 〜 も「〜してほしい」という意味を表すフレーズですが、こちらは直接的なニュアンスがある表現になるので、少し子供っぽい感じが出ます。

I want you to be there until 8 o'clock, as the package should arrive.
（荷物が届くはずだから、８時まではそこにいてほしい。）
