「誤作動する」は英語では malfunction や have a glitch などで表現することができます。

A fire alarm malfunctioned again.
（また火災報知器の誤作動が起きた。）

If a safety device has a glitch, it can endanger people's lives, so inspections are carried out carefully over time.
（安全装置に誤作動すると、人の命にかかわることもあるため、時間をかけて丁寧に点検を行っています。）
※ endanger（危険に晒す）ちなみに endangered で「絶滅危惧種」という意味になります。
