A decade：10年
ten years「10年」は decade「10年間」の別の言い方があり10年を期間として一まとめにしたニュアンスがあります。日常会話では直接的な長さを伝える ten years「10年」が自然な場合が多い反面、フォーマルな場面や公式な書面に書き出す場面は decade が使われます。

a millennium：1000年間、千年期
1000 years は millennium「1000年間」「千年期」という別の言い方にができ、言い換えるならa span of 1000 years です。キリスト教由来のかたい言い方になる為、式典などのフォーマルな場面やテレビのニュースなどによく登場する印象があります。また two millenniums 「2000年間」や half a millennium「500年」の使い方で表現の幅を広げる事も出来ます。
