青少年 を英語で教えて!

Adolescentsは、日本語の「思春期の若者」や「青年期の子」に近い言葉です。

少し専門的・客観的な響きがあり、ニュースや論文でよく使われますが、日常会話ではteenagerの方が一般的です。身体と心が子供から大人へ大きく変化する、多感な時期の若者たちを指す言葉です。

The issue of crime among adolescents is currently on the decline.
青少年の犯罪問題は現在減少傾向にあります。

ちなみに、「young people」は「若者」を指す便利な言葉だよ。10代から20代、時には30代前半まで幅広く使えるのがポイント。「若者は〜」と少し客観的に語りたい時や、世代をひとまとめにしたい時にぴったりなんだ。
