・I stopped by the bookstore on the way.
・I popped into the bookstore on my way.
・I swung by the bookstore en route.
I stopped by the bookstore on the way home.
「I stopped by the bookstore on the way.」
I popped into the bookstore on my way home.
I swung by the bookstore en route, that's why I got home late.
I popped into the bookstore on my way. I swung by the bookstore en route.
