「こういう状況なので」「この状況では仕方なく」といったニュアンスです。良くない状況や特別な事情をふまえて、普段とは違う判断や行動をすることを説明するときに使います。「今回はこういう事情だから、大目に見てね」という感じです。

この状況では、イベントを中止する以外に選択肢はありません。

ちなみに、「Things being what they are...」は「まあ、こういう状況だからね…」といったニュアンスで使えます。どうにもならない現状や、皆が知っている状況を踏まえて「だから仕方なく〜する」と話を続ける時に便利です。少し諦めを含んだ感じで、計画の変更などを伝える時にぴったりですよ。
