行列ができているが、何の目的で並んでいるのかわからない時に「この列は、何の列ですか？」と英語で言いたいです。

「この列は何のためにあるのですか？」と直訳できます。
what : 何（疑問代名詞）
line : 列（名詞）
for : 〜のために（前置詞）
・肯定文にすると This line is for 〇〇. となり、これが what を使った疑問文になるので for は文の最後におきます。

A : What is this line for?
この列は何の列ですか？
B : It’s for the new iPhone launch event.
新しいiPhoneの発売イベントの列ですよ。

よりカジュアルで、状況が目の前で起きていることを表現したい時はこちらの方が自然です。
