「最近どう？」「調子どう？」という意味の、とてもカジュアルでフレンドリーな挨拶です。"How are you?"よりもくだけた表現で、友達や同僚など親しい間柄でよく使われます。

挨拶として軽く交わすことが多いので、返事も "Good!" "Not bad." のようにシンプルでOKです！

「中間の経過を簡単にご説明いただけますか？」のニュアンスで上記の様にも表せます。

brief：手短に必要な情報を与える（他動詞）
interim：当座の、暫定的な、中間の（形容詞）
progress：進歩、発達、前進、成り行き、経過（不可算名詞）

丁寧な依頼表現 Would you mind （～して頂けますか）の後に動名詞（briefing）、目的語（me）、副詞句（on the interim progress：中間の経過を）を続けます。
