意向を探る を英語で教えて!

交渉が上手くいくように前もって相手の意見を知りたいので、「相手の意向を探ることにした」と言いたいです。

「意向」は「意図」のニュアンスで可算名詞「intention」を用います。

構文は、第一文型（主語［I］＋動詞［decided］）に副詞的用法のto不定詞（to find out the other person's intentions：相手の意図を探ることに）を組み合わせて構成します。

たとえば I decided to find out the other person's intentions. とすれば「私は相手の意図（＝意向）を探ることにしました」の意味になりニュアンスが通じます。

また「find out」を他動詞「explore」に代えて I decided to explore the other person's intentions. とすると同じく「私は相手の意図を探ることにしました」の意味になります。
