研究段階 を英語で教えて!

猫に腎不全が多いと聞いたので、「研究段階だけど将来は薬が出来ると思う」と言いたいです。

「まだ調べている最中です」という意味で、何か新しいことを始めようとしているけれど、まだ具体的な計画や結論には至っていない状況で使えます。
