対抗措置 を英語で教えて!

「Countermeasure」は、何か悪いことや問題が起こるのを防いだり、起きた後の影響を減らしたりするための「対策」や「対抗策」です。

サイバー攻撃への対策、病気の予防策、経済の不況対策など、ビジネスから日常まで幅広く使えます。「予防」と「対応」両方の意味で使える便利な言葉です。

We are implementing economic countermeasures against the country for its violation of international law.
その国による国際法違反に対し、我々は経済的な対抗措置を実施しています。

ちなみに、"Retaliatory action"は「やられたらやり返す」というニュアンスです。日本語の「報復措置」より少し柔らかく、ビジネスで不利益な扱いをされた会社が対抗策を取ったり、個人間のちょっとした仕返しに使ったりもします。まさに「倍返しだ！」という感じですね。

その国による条約違反に対し、国際社会は対抗措置を検討している。
