「See how it plays out」は「どうなるか見てみよう」や「結果を待ってみよう」といったニュアンスを持つ英語表現です。ある事態や状況がどのように進行・発展するのか結果を見守る意味合いを含んでいます。予測不可能な出来事や、自分のコントロールが効かない状況などに対して使うことが多いです。

「反応をみる」は英語では、上記のように表現することができます。

see も look も「見る」という意味を表せますが、もう少し詳しく言うと see は「自然と目に入る」、look は「意識して見る」という意味があります。
