副食費 を英語で教えて!

「The cost of groceries」は、単に「食料品の値段」というより「日々の食費」というニュアDンスで使われることが多いです。スーパーで買う肉、野菜、牛乳などの生活必需品にかかる費用全体を指します。「最近、食費が上がったね」のように、家計の話や物価上昇を話題にするときにピッタリな表現です。

ちなみに、「The food bill」は単に「食費」と訳すだけでなく、「（今回の）食事の伝票」という意味でもよく使われます。レストランで「お会計お願い！」と言いたい時に "Can we get the food bill?" と言えたり、家計の話で「今月の食費、高いね」と話す時に "The food bill is high this month." と言えたり、場面によって使い分けられる便利な言葉ですよ。
