初めまして☆2017年からNCを始め、2019年にNC講師になりました。現在は育児の隙間時間に翻訳や自習をしながら復帰に向けて準備中です♪

触れない方がいい を英語で教えて！

彼は離婚したばかりなので、その事には触れない方がいい。
He just got divorced, so it's better not to ask it.

It's better not to ask / touch it = それに触れない方が良い
get divorced = 離婚する

ex. テストの結果について、彼に触れない方がいい。
It's better not to touch him about the test results.
touch = 関与する、触れる、関わる

足をあらう を英語で教えて！

彼はやくざ稼業から足をあらい、真面目に働こうとしている。
He is willing to wash his hands of immoral work and work hard.
wash one's hands of～ = ～から足を洗う、縁を切る
be willing to = ～する意思がある、進んで～する
immoral work = 不道徳な仕事
work hard = しっかり働く

ex.ガールフレンドとは縁を切りました。
I have washed my hands of the relationship with my ex-girlfriend.

足手まとい を英語で教えて！

彼はチームにとって足手まといとなった。
He became a liability to the team.
liability = 不利な物、人、ハンディキャップ（↔ asset=有利なもの、利点）

ex. 彼はコーチの意見を聞かない為に、チームの足手まといになりました。
He became a liability to the team because he didn't listen to the coach's opinion.
become a liability = 足手まといになる、負担になる

場を盛り上げる を英語で教えて！

彼はお調子者で、雰囲気を良くしてくれるので、場を盛り上げるのが上手だ。
He 's a cheerful person and makes the atmosphere better,
so He is good at livening up the place.

liven up = 盛り上げる、活気づける
cheerful person = 愉快な人、お調子者
be good at = ～が得意です

ex.彼が来ると、いつも雰囲気が盛り上がります。
The atmosphere is always exciting when he comes.
