2人を比べていたので、「方や新人、片やベテラン」と言いたいです。

・One is ～，and the other is ～.

2つの物，あるいは２人を比べるときは，上記のような言い方を覚えておくと便利です。

One is ～, and the other is ～は「（2つのもののうち）一方は～，もう一方は～」という意味です。つまり，「片や～，片や～」と同じですね。

「新人」は，
new hire　　「新しく雇われた人」
new face　　「新顔」
rookie　　　「新入り」　　 などの言い方があります。

「ベテラン」は，
expert　　　「熟練者」「専門家」
experienced person　　　「経験を積んだ人」　　のように言います。

（例文）
There are two researchers at our office. One is a new hire, and the other is an expert.
「うちの事務所には２人の調査員がおりまして，片や新人，片やベテランです。」
・researcher　　　「調査員」「研究者」

These two are nominated for a leading character. One is a new face, and the other is an experienced actor.
「この二人が主役の候補にあがっています。片や新人で，片やベテランの俳優です。」

・be nominated for～　　　「～の候補にあがる，ノミネートされる」
・leading character　　　　「主役」

The one is a new man and the other is an expert.
片や新人、片やベテラン。

「片や」は 「The one is ～ and the other is ～」と表現できます。「one」に対して「other」が対比になっており、「～」には「新人」と「ベテラン」の様に対となる単語が入ります。
「veteran」は日本語の「ベテラン」とは違い、「退役軍人」や「古参兵士」を連想させる為、日本語でいう「ベテラン」は「expert」や「specialist」を用いると良いです。「新人」は他にも「freshman」や「rookie」といった表現もあり、「ベテラン」が「oldie」と表現されれば「newbie」と表現する事もできます。
