「Era name」は、時代の名前や元号を意味する英語表現です。たとえば明治、昭和、平成、令和などの日本の元号は'Era name'にあたります。一般的には、歴史の学習や論文、記事などで使われます。特定の時期やその時代の文化、政治状況を指す際に用いられることが多いです。また、各国の元号、王朝名、歴史的な時代区分も'Era name'として表現されます。

Japan uses a unique system called 'reign names', like Heisei and Reiwa, to identify the years of the current emperor's reign.

In Japan, we use regnal years which are based on the reign of the current emperor. For example, the previous era was called Heisei, and the current era is called Reiwa.

Reign nameは君主が即位時に取る新しい名前を指す言葉で、公務や記録に使用します。例えば、英国の女王エリザベス2世の「エリザベス」がこれにあたります。一方、"Regnal year"は君主の統治年数を表す言葉で、日常生活ではほとんど使われません。歴史的文書や法律的な文書で、君主の治世の特定の年を指すのに使います。例えば「エリザベス2世の治世20年目」を指します。

eraは"時代、時期"という意味です。

I struggle to remember the important historical name of an era.
