direction = 方向・向き
ONE DIRECTION =一方方向・一方通行　有名なワンダイレクションでご存知の方も

例）The news said the typhoon was coming toward Japan, but it changed direction.
　　ニュースで台風が日本に接近していると聞きましたが、逸れたみたいです。

toward somewhere = ～に向かって

【shifted to another course 】
コースを変えた

例）The news announced that the typhoon was approaching to Japan, yet it shifted to another course. ニュースで台風が日本に接近していると聞きましたが、逸れたみたいです。

approach = 近づこうとする

【spinning around / turning around 】真逆の方向を向く・振り返る

例）The typhoon turned around and is not going to hit Japan anymore different from what the news reported.
　　ニュースで報道されたことに反して、台風はきびつを返し日本にはもう直撃しません。
