Doesn't add up是英文的慣用語，意思是「說不通」、「解釋不一致」等。當事情在邏輯上有矛盾，或說明缺乏一致性時會使用這個表達。例如，一個人的言行與他的性格或過去的行為不一致時，或故事的情節有矛盾時，就會說「It doesn't add up」。

It doesn't make financial sense to continue this project if it's not profitable.
如果這個專案無法帶來利益，繼續下去在經濟上是沒有意義的。

Doesn't make financial sense是指在金錢上不合理，也就是投資的回報無法超過成本。例如，用來形容租金比收入還高的公寓。另一方面，Not worth the cost則是在價值無法正當化成本時使用。例如，昂貴的餐點或產品沒有達到預期的好時會用這個說法。兩者雖然相似，但前者更常用於金融相關的語境，後者則用於一般的價值判斷。
