「Prostitute」是指以金錢作為交換，提供性服務的人，相當於中文裡面的「阻街女郎」、「妓女」。主要用於法律或社會議題的討論、新聞報導、學術語境中。另一方面，在日常對話或正式場合，較中立的表達「sex worker（性工作者）」則較受青睞。
