draw near 有"走近、靠近、接近、臨近"的意思。

A junior employee walked up to the section chief and fired off a series of questions in rapid succession, moving in closer as he spoke..
（一位資淺員工走到科長面前，劈頭就拋出一連串問題，邊說邊不斷往前靠近。）

"edge in" 是「向人步步進逼」的意思。

He edged in on his opponent last night.
（他昨晚向對手一步步逼近。）
