「妄想」是指沒有根據地隨意想像各種事情。在英語中，還有
"a fancy"、"a vagrant fancy"、"foolish imaginings"、"a fantasy"、"a fantastic idea"、
"an impossible idea"、"a delusion"（精神病的）、"lascivious thoughts"
（淫穢的想法）等表達方式。

順便一提，「妄想」在英語中還有"cherish illusions"和"nurse illusions"等表達方式。
