1. volatility: 波動

股價的「波動」稱為 volatility。和形容詞 volatile 一起，經常用來說明股價波動。原本，volatile 有「不穩定的、易變的」這個意思，因此被用來表示「股價波動」。

最近股市的波動是因為總統大選。

The recent stock market is volatile because of the presidential election.
最近的股市因為總統大選而出現波動。

2. fluctuation: 亂高下

fluctuation「起伏不定、波動」、fluctuate「起伏不定、波動」也常用來表達股價的亂高下。特別是波動劇烈時，會搭配形容詞 sharp「劇烈的」、副詞 sharply「劇烈地」來表達。

This sharp fluctuation of stock markets is because of the presidential election.
股市的劇烈波動是因為總統大選。

Stock markets fluctuate sharply because of the presidential election.
股市因為總統大選而劇烈波動。
