「〜（人數）人在等」是「〜people waiting」或「〜people are waiting」等的意思。

例句
A. How many people are waiting?
現在有幾個人在等呢？
B. There are 7people waiting on the list.
名單上有7個人在等喔。

另外，在餐廳等候空位時，常常不是用「〜人」而是用「〜組」。這種情況下，可以用「〜party（parties）」或「〜group（groups）」來表達。
