防水加工在英文中稱為Water repellent coating。這個表達可以用來指保護物品免受雨水或水分侵害。
此外，在介紹服飾類有防水加工的商品時，也可以使用這個說法。

Repellent有“能夠排斥（水或昆蟲等）、防止附著”的意思。

不僅僅是防水加工，例如防蚊噴霧也可以用Mosquito repellent spray來表示，就是“防蚊噴霧”。
