在地方公司體驗實際職場環境叫作「職業體驗」，英文中稱為Job shadowing。

Job shadowing（職業體驗）是就業學習的其中一種方法。它有點類似於實習，為了讓學員理解某個工作內容與技能，讓他們近距離觀察工作的運作模式。新進員工可以利用這個機會學習前輩如何工作，考慮轉職的人也可以用這個方法來觀察新的職種。此外，學生也可以利用這個方式近距離觀察有興趣的工作，以決定自己的職涯方向。

學生在地方公司體驗職場這件事在英文中稱為internship。

The student will participate in a work placement at the local company to gain hands-on experience in the field.
學生將在當地公司進行職業體驗，以獲得實務經驗。

Internship主要是指學生或新鮮人為了累積業界經驗而進行的短期工作，通常在暑假或學期間進行。另一方面，Work placement則是作為教育課程的一部分，進行較長期的工作體驗。這通常是大學課程的一部分，目的是讓學生在自己的專業領域獲得實務經驗。
