中午要去買午餐時，想著「順路去銀行提款好了！」
到日本旅行時，想著「難得來了，順便去神社參拜吧！」

正在努力學習英語的朋友們，你知道如何用英語表達「順便」和「難得～」嗎？

市面上的英語教材中，很少講解到如何用英語表達「順便」和「難得都來了…. 」。

因此，在本文中我將介紹 在英語會話中「順便」和「難得(既然)…」的英文說法。敬請將本文的內容融入你的英語學習中吧！

「順便」的英語

當你想用英語說「順便」時，首先要考慮實際是怎樣的情況。

正在進行某事，同時做其他事―― 也就是順手。
例：「做晚餐的時候，（順便）做隔天的午餐。」

在某個地點辦事時，順便做其他事。
例：「午休時到咖啡廳用餐，（順便）幫同事買杯咖啡。」

去某處的途中，順便處理其他事情――也就是順路。
例：「去銀行的路上，（順便）在便利商店買飲料。」

以下，我將介紹能與這些情境中所使用的「順便」相對應的英文片語與例句。

While you’re at it

首先要介紹的是 while you’re at it（當你在做某事時），用於『當你正在做某事時，順便做其他事』的情況，意思包含中文所說的『順手』。

譬如說，「你準備早餐的時候，可以順便/順手煮我的份嗎？」這個說法的英語表現會變成「當你在做你的早餐時，請幫我做我的早餐。」

這種情況下，while you’re at it 就是個非常好用的說法！it指的是正在做的事，you’re則會根據『“誰”順便做什麼』而變化。

Are you going out for a walk? Could you take some snacks for me at the convenience store while you’re at it?
你要出去散步嗎？ 可以順便在便利商店幫我買點零食嗎？

A: I’m going to clean the kitchen.
B: While you’re at it, can you also wipe down the counters?
A: 我要清理廚房。
B: 那你可以順手幫忙擦一下流理台嗎？

A: I’m going to the gym to work out.
B: While you’re at it, can you also ask the trainer about some new exercises?
A: 我要去健身房健身。
B: 你可以幫我順便問一下教練有沒有什麼新的運動嗎？

A: I’m going to the library to return some books.
B: While you’re at it, can you also pick up a book on programming for me?
A: 我要去圖書館還書。
B: 你可以順手幫我借一本有關程式設計的書嗎？

While you’re there/here

接著要介紹的是 while you’re there/here（當你在那裡/這裡的期間）。用法跟剛剛的 while you’re at it 幾乎一樣，差別只在於：

while you’re at it：正在『做』某事的順便
while you’re there/ here：正在『那個地方』的順便

例如，你的朋友正在星巴克，你跟他說「你正在星巴克的話，趁著你在那裡的時候，可以（順便）幫我買一杯咖啡嗎？」這樣的情況就可以用 while you’re there 來表達。

A: Hey, I’m going to the bank to deposit some cash. Do you need to go anywhere?
B: Actually, yes. I need to make my bankbook updated.
A: Okay, no problem. While I’m there, I can do it for you.
A: 嘿！我要去銀行提款。你有需要去哪裡嗎？
B: 有耶！我需要去刷我的存摺簿。
A: 沒問題啊，我可以順便幫你刷。

A: I’m going to the grocery store. Do you need anything?
B: While you’re there, can you grab some eggs for me?
A: 我要去超市，你有需要什麼嗎？
B: 你可以順便幫我買蛋嗎？

On the way

接下來是 on the way（在路上），用於『去哪裡的路上（順便）處理其他事』，也像是中文所說的『順路』。

on the way to （地點）也可以用來表明具體位置『 正在往～的路上』，或說 on one’s way 也可以。

Can you grab some groceries on the way to the party?
你去派對的路上可以順便幫我買一些雜貨嗎？

A: Could you please stop by the post office and mail this letter for me?
B: Sure, no problem. I’m going to the grocery store, so I can do that for you on my way.
A: 你可以在郵局停一下幫我寄這封信嗎？
B: 好啊，沒問題。我要去超市，所以可以順路幫你寄。

I’m driving to the airport to pick up my sister. On the way, I can drop you off at the train station if you need a ride.
我要去機場接我妹，我可以順路載你去車站喔！如果你需要的話。

「難得/既然…」要怎麼說呢？

『難得/既然… 』要怎麼說呢？可以說 since（因為～）或 might as well （做～比較好）。

中文所說的『難得/既然… 』其實可以分析為具有以下意義。

這是一個很特別的機會，好好把握以獲得更好的結果！
這是透過辛苦而獲取的，好好把握，不要白費了努力！

上述兩種意思就可以用單字「since」或「might」來做表達，接著搭配例句說明。

Since

使用since補充『對方已經知道的』理由，來表達「難得/既然…」。

與強調理由或原因的 because 相比，since 用來傳達聽者已經知道的事，添加上一個簡單的理由。如果想強調原因以改在句末添加since子句。

A: Since it’s such a beautiful day, why don’t we do something outdoors?
B: That’s a good idea.
A: 難得天氣這麼好，我們去戶外活動活動吧？
B: 好耶！

A: How often do you meet him a month?
B: Well, since you asked, I don’t have enough time to spend with him.
A: 你一個月見他幾次?
B: 嗯～既然你都問了，其實我沒有什麼時間陪他。

Since I’m already going to be in Tokyo for work, I decided to stay an extra day to explore the city.
難得機會要去東京工作，我決定多待一天探索那座城市。

might as well

might as well 是幾個簡單的單字組合而成的片語，可以用來表示『難得機會…』『順便』。

查查英語字典的話，你會發現 might as well 有以下意思：

（反正也沒有更好的辦法）要不就…
倒不如…

有些情況下，中文所說的「難得都～ 不然就～吧！」也有這樣的意境對吧？來看看例句吧！

A: I’m going to the States next week to see my family.
B: If you are going there, we might as well fly business class.
A: 下禮拜我要去美國看我的家人。
B: 既然你要去，難得機會，我們就搭商務艙吧！

I might as well try his recommendation.
難得機會，我不妨就試試他推薦的。

I wasn’t interested in the position, but I might as well apply for it.
我對那個職缺沒有興趣，但難得機會，我還是申請看看好了。
