While you are at it

while you are at it

You’re cleaning the living room. Could you wipe down the table while you’re at it?
Since I am cleaning the kitchen, I might as well mop the floor while I am at it.

On your way

Can you grab some milk on your way home?
I will drop off the package on my way to work.
Pick up the dry cleaning on your way back, please.

Might as well

We are already here, so we might as well take some photos.
Since you are cooking, you might as well make extra for tomorrow.
I might as well finish this report since I am at my desk.

By the way

By the way, did you get my email?
By the way, the meeting has been moved to 3 PM.
I loved the movie. By the way, have you seen the sequel?

That reminds me

We just talked about Japan. That reminds me, have you renewed your passport?
She mentioned her birthday. That reminds me, I still need to buy a gift.
That reminds me, we forgot to confirm the reservation.

Come to think of it

come to think of it

Come to think of it, I have never been to that restaurant.
We should invite him too. Come to think of it, he lives nearby.
Come to think of it, this is the same issue we had last month.

Not to change the subject, but

not to change the subject, but

Not to change the subject, but did you finish the report?
Not to change the subject, but we should also talk about the deadline.
The meeting went well. Not to change the subject, but have you booked your flight yet?

「順便」這個詞看似簡單,但英文裡要表達得精準,其實要分清楚兩種情境:一種是「附帶做一件事」,像 while you are at it、might as well;另一種是「順勢轉換話題」,像 by the way、that reminds me
